LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Thick smoke was spotted along the Louisville waterfront from a fire at a sand company on River Road.
A MetroSafe supervisor said the fire was reported about 9:18 a.m. Friday.
Louisville Fire posted on social media that the fire at Nugent Sand Company started in a machine compound.
Louisville Fire & Rescue Capt. Donovan Sims said crews were on the scene of the fire within five minutes of the first report. When firefighters arrived “they found a machine compound on fire.”
Sims said crews had to use a “relay” of hoses to get water from River Road to the fire. “Once we were able to do that, we were able to get water on that machine.”
