Country Meat Market in Tyler celebrates 70 year anniversary [Video]

TYLER, Texas — An East Texas butchery is celebrating 70 years of serving the community.

The Country Meat Market held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday to mark a major milestone in the business’s history. For the past seven decades, the market has served quality meat and home-cooking to the East Texas community. 

The family-owned business celebrated with exclusive giveaways, including two tickets to Nashville to visit the Grand Ole Opry, and free food.

Country Meat Market supervisor Tom Kohler said he’s thankful to e a small part of such a successful business.

“It was started by Bud Morris in 1954. It’s being run by Steve and Karen Morris, now being carried on, and one of Bud’s great grandsons, Matt Clet, is running our plant,” Koehler said. “Plus two generations before …
