Every Friday, Liberty linebacker Teylor Jackson’s phone lights up with a call. It’s his old teammates from East Carolina on the other side.

How could Jackson not stay close with his teammates from ECU? It’s the place he built a lifelong brotherhood. It’s the place where he earned a degree in business management. And it’s also the place he suited up for 41 times from 2020 to 2023, even contributing in a 2022 Birmingham Bowl win with six tackles and a sack for 12 yards.

“We get on a group FaceTime call,” Jackson said this week, “just chop it up with the guys, things like that,” Jackson said about those calls this week. The Liberty linebacker will be harder to reach this week, though.

“They know the last FaceTime call,” he added, “I told them, this week’s a big week. So no communication at all.”
