PEORIA (25News Now) – About 50 Black entrepreneurs came together in Peoria on Thursday seeking to share information that will help grow their businesses.
It was the second Du Sable Summit hosted by the Illinois Office of Minority Economic Empowerment and the Black Business Collective.
The event brought business support groups together, sharing best practices. and providing information about funding and business development programs.
“The beautiful thing is we can go fast by ourselves, but we can go far together. The work that we do is not exclusive. It’s not about exclusivity, it’s about collaboration,” said Matthew Simpson, who is with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
The summit also provided networking opportunities, including how to connect with state leaders. State Sen. David Koehler (D-Peoria) was one of the speakers.
