There will be some changes to when and where cell phones can be used throughout Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools this year.A new cell phone policy is being implemented districtwide in an effort to prevent students from being distracted during class.The school board approved the new policy in June.”From the very start of the school year, we are asking school leaders and teachers to set expectations for no cell phone use during the school day,” WS/FCS Chief Officer of Equity, Access and Acceleration Effie McMillian said.Students will likely notice new signs and posters around their schools, forbidding the use of cell phones and other wireless devices.”Even though the use of cell phones has been discouraged, this year, we are implementing a policy saying no wireless communication devices should be used during the instructional day,” McMillian said. “Meaning from the first bell to the last bell of the day.”The district doesn’t want cell …
