Big Daves Cheesesteaks to permanently shutter downtown location after water main break issues [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks is shutting down a location after the major water main breaks in Atlanta last month, the founder said.

Derrick Hayes, Sr. posted on Instagram Sunday saying in part that the water issue in Atlanta brought him to the decision not to reopen the Forsyth Street location in Atlanta.

On June 2, Hayes posted on social media saying that a water main break caused pipes to burst, causing flooding at that location.

Earlier, in 2020, the same location dealt with damage twice, once in May and again in August. The vandalism forced them to shut down for two weeks. Three months later, their front window was broken again.

Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks still has three other locations in Georgia, including Forest Park, Lawrenceville and Doraville.
