Panchitos Ice Cream on Dixie Highway closed until further notice [Video]

Panchitos is asking the community to swing by their location on Preston Highway while they wait for a new AC unit.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A well-known ice cream shop on Dixie Highway will be closed until further notice after someone stole the business’ air conditioning unit.

Panchitos Ice Cream and Snacks announced on social media it would be closing the Dixie Highway location while staff wait for a new air conditioning unit to arrive and be installed.

The theft comes as Louisville is experiencing a prolonged heat wave, with temperatures most days reaching into the mid-90s.

“It will take time,” officials wrote. “We don’t exactly know when we will reopen, but we will keep everyone posted.”

The business is asking guests to stop by their Preston Highway location for the time being.
