15-hour barricade situation in Moyock ends with a suspect in custody [Video]

Sunday night on social media, the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office closed roads and asked people to avoid the Moyock Commons Business District area.

MOYOCK, N.C. — The 15-hour-long barricade situation that shut down the Moyock Commons Business District area has come to an end with a suspect in custody, according to the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office.

Minutes after 5:30 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office cleared the scene at the Food Lion area. 

According to witnesses in the area, the barricade was set up around 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Sometime before 7 p.m., the Sheriff’s office posted on their social media account, “We are working an active scene with an armed barricaded subject at the Food Lion area. We have containment and the general public is safe. Please be patient with the traffic control as we have all available manpower on this situation.”
