In fact, I think you should pay attention to your competitors to the point where you have a formalized competitor analysis document.

I just finished putting together one for a freelance marketing client in the financial services industry. It’s a 25 page document that analyzes three competitors and it’s going to be so helpful to have when I build out their marketing plan.
